Colorado U.S. Senator Michael Bennet issued the following statement on the release of the President’s FY 2014 budget request.

“The President’s budget is the closest proposal we’ve seen to meeting the spirit of the comprehensive Bowles-Simpson plan and shows the President is committed to reasonable compromise. I hope it reignites the discussion about how we craft a serious and balanced plan that reduces the deficit.

“I look forward to reviewing this budget in greater detail. While there may be some ideas that I do not agree with, this represents a significant step toward putting the country on a sustainable fiscal path and bringing our debt under control.”
