Pikes Peak, the most eastern of Colorado's 58 fourteeners, is the mountain backdrop for a dynamic metropolitan region of nearly 3⁄4 of a million residents. Six municipalities and five military installations lie at the foot of Pikes Peak, while State Highway 24 creates a unique gateway to the heritage rich mountain towns and landscapes of Park and Teller counties to the west.
