Steeped in history, culture and biological diversity, the San Luis Valley is a region unlike any other in Colorado. Long part of the lands of the famed Ute Indians, this valley nestled between the Sangre de Cristo and San Juan Mountains was later settled by New Mexican farmers and ranchers, many of whose descendants continue to farm and ranch the fertile plains of the valley floor to this very day.
