Bennet, Gardner Meet with Colorado County Commissioners

Washington, D.C. - Colorado U.S. Senators Michael Bennet (D) and Cory Gardner (R) this week met with County Commissioners from several Colorado counties. They discussed a variety of issues affecting Colorado, including public lands, Payment in Lieu of Taxes (PILT), broadband, and infrastructure.

Attendees included Commissioners from Adams, Alamosa, Arapahoe, Douglas, El Paso, Jefferson, La Plata, Mineral, Montezuma, Morgan, Routt, San Miguel, and Teller counties.

"There's no problem we couldn't solve if lawmakers in Washington took their jobs as seriously as the County Commissioners do in Colorado," Bennet said. "We need to empower local decision-makers, while also making the federal government function better for Coloradans. The topics discussed in our meeting-from broadband to public lands-only confirmed how critical it is for local and federal governments to work together to expand opportunities for Colorado communities and families."

"Senator Bennet and I had a great meeting with Colorado county commissioners about how the federal, state, and local government can continue to work together to advance policies that help Coloradans," Gardner said. "Whether it is protecting our public lands, modernizing our infrastructure, or deploying broadband to rural communities, our working relationship with local officials is vital to finding solutions."
