Interns in Michael's Capitol Hill office are responsible for supporting his legislative or communications priorities.
Legislative interns will have the opportunity to assist with legislative research, write responses to constituent inquiries, attend committee hearings, and prepare briefs on Senate activities. Greeting visitors, answering phones, and giving Capitol tours are also part of the internship.
Communications interns will have the opportunity to compile daily press clips, draft press releases, create social media content, conduct research for speeches, and assist with press conferences. If time allows, greeting visitors, answering phones, and giving Capitol tours are also part of the internship. If you are interested in the communications internship, please indicate this on your application; all other applicants will be considered for the legislative program.
A limited number of stipends are provided to interns based on financial need. The stipend is intended only for those students who could not otherwise afford to live and work in Washington, D.C. Please see the online application for further requirements and instructions to apply for financial assistance.
Application Deadlines: The selection process for Washington, D.C. office internships occurs three times annually before the spring, summer, and fall academic semesters. Applications received by the deadline will be given preference; those received late will be considered as space allows.
