Bennet Urges Lawmakers to Put Politics & Special Interests Aside And Enact Fiscally-Responsible, Meaningful Health Care Reform

Following an appearance on CNN's State of the Union with John King, Michael Bennet, U.S. Senator for Colorado, today called for the nation to put politics and special interests aside to enact fiscally-responsible, meaningful health care reform for Colorado's families.

"For too long, a narrow and small politics has prevented lawmakers in Washington from getting anything done on health care. Now's the time to put politics and special interests aside and enact meaningful and fiscally-responsible health care reform that will put our families, our small businesses and our country on a sounder footing for generations to come."

"From the beginning of this debate, I've said health care reform must bring down costs, preserve choice, and provide quality, affordable health care choices to all Americans. That includes a public option. And I will only support reform if it achieves these goals in a way that does not add one dollar to our deficit."

"The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act is a significant step in the right direction. However, I will be working hard to improve this bill so that it further reins in out of control costs and puts our nation back on the path to fiscal health."
