Bennet Marks Two-Year Anniversary of Senate Passage of Bipartisan Immigration Bill

Washington, DC - Colorado U.S. Senator Michael Bennet is marking tomorrow's two-year anniversary of the Senate's strong bipartisan vote to pass a comprehensive bill to fix our broken immigration system. As a member of the "Gang of Eight," Bennet coauthored the Senate immigration bill along with four Republican senators and three Democrats to fix our broken system.

"Two years ago, sixty-eight Republican and Democratic senators took a stand and said it's time to do something about our broken immigration system. We worked in a bipartisan way to pass a bill that reaffirms two bedrock American values - we are a nation that respects the rule of law and we are a nation of immigrants. Political dysfunction in the House of Representatives blocked that bill and left us with the status quo. It is long past time to get this done. Every day that we fail to enact immigration reform, we jeopardize our economy, our safety, and families in our communities. Congress should put politics aside and work to fix our broken immigration system."
