Bennet Announces Farm Bill Listening Sessions on the West Slope and Northwestern Colorado, Invites Coloradans to Attend

Denver  – Today, Colorado U.S. Senator Michael Bennet announced that his agriculture policy staff and his regional staff will host two days of Farm Bill listening sessions on the West Slope and Northwestern Colorado on August 18 and 19.

“From severe drought to volatile supply chains, Colorado’s farmers, ranchers, and rural communities have faced a difficult few years,” said Bennet. “These listening sessions with my staff are an opportunity for Coloradans to tell us how Washington can be a better partner to producers and nutrition advocates across the state.”

In an effort to make sure Colorado’s voice is part of the national discussion about next year’s Farm Bill, staff members from Bennet’s office  will continue to host listening sessions across the state throughout 2022. In 2017, Bennet organized two dozen staff-led Farm Bill Listening Sessions around the state. This year, Bennet kicked off his listening sessions with roundtables in Pueblo and Fort Collins in April and May. Bennet’s office held eight listening sessions in June on Colorado’s Eastern Plains.

Anyone with input on the Farm Bill process is welcome to attend, including local producers, community leaders, economic development leaders, and local institutions and businesses.

Attendees should RSVP to james_thompson@bennet.senate.gov with the location where they would like to attend, their name, title and organization (if applicable), and contact information. Additional details about each listening session and media guidance is available below.
