Bennet, Crapo Urge Leadership to Fully Fund PILT for FY 2017

More than 30 Senators Sign Letter in Support of PILT program

Today, Colorado U.S. Senator Michael Bennet and Republican Senator Mike Crapo from Idaho led a letter to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid urging them to work together to ensure that the PILT program is fully funded for Fiscal Year 2017. This fiscal year, Colorado communities received more than $35.5 million to fund critical services like police, fire protection, and emergency response.
Senators Michael Bennet (D-CO), Cory Gardner (R-CO), and Tom Udall (D-NM) along with Senators Orrin Hatch (R-UT), Martin Heinrich (D-NV), and John McCain (R-AZ) today introduced an amendment to the Water Resources Development Act (WRDA) to address the response costs associated with the Gold King Mine spill, and direct the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to work with affected States, Indian tribes, and local governments on a long-term water quality monitoring program of the rivers contaminated by the spill.
Colorado U.S. Senator Michael Bennet joined 28 senators today urging House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) to bring the $1.1 billion Zika funding legislation passed by the Senate to the House floor for a vote. As of today, there are more than 18,000 cases of Zika reported in the United States and its territories.
