Bennet to Co-host "Beyond Colorado"? Workshops for Businesses Looking to Expand Internationally

Sessions Will Provide Information about Exports, Intellectual Property Protection

The office of Colorado U.S. Senator Michael Bennet today announced it will co-host a series of workshops – entitled “Beyond Colorado: How to Bring Your Products and Services to the Global Marketplace” – across the state for Colorado businesses looking to expand abroad.

In the first ten months of 2012, Colorado’s exports increased by 10 percent, amounting to nearly $7 billion in revenue for Colorado businesses. These workshops are designed to help businesses, entrepreneurs, ranchers, farmers, agricultural producers, and food processors take advantage of this trend and grow their customer base outside the U.S.

At the workshop, attendees will hear from panelists who have a broad range of experience in exporting products, financing overseas distribution, and protecting intellectual property. Information will be provided from the Colorado Department of Agriculture, U.S. Department of Commerce, Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade, World Trade Center Denver and the Colorado Bar Association Intellectual Property (IP) Section.

The workshops are currently planned for Colorado Springs, Denver, Durango, Fort Collins, Grand Junction, and Pueblo. For more information, and to RSVP, please visit https://www.bennet.senate.gov/beyondcolorado

“Colorado businesses are consistently at the cutting edge of innovation and growth and expanding beyond our borders is just another example of that trend,” Bennet said. “Although there are federal resources available to support such expansion, navigating the process can be daunting for some businesses. These sessions will help explain that process in greater detail and provide expert advice on international exports and patent protection.”
