Center – Colorado U.S. Senator Michael Bennet, a member of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence (SSCI), released the following statement regarding the fifth and final volume of the committee’s bipartisan Russia investigation:
“This bipartisan report lays bare a grave threat to our democracy and our national security. It should alarm every American as we approach the November elections. The committee’s investigation found disturbing interactions between members of the Trump campaign, its associates, and Russian actors as the Russians undertook a full-scale campaign to undermine our democracy.
“It is clear that the president’s continued willful inaction and repeated invitations of foreign interference have put his personal interests above our security and democracy. The intelligence community has warned that Russia continues to try to interfere in our elections to undermine Vice President Biden’s candidacy and support President Trump. The president should heed this somber, objective warning and act immediately to prevent foreign interference and protect the institutions of our democracy.”
On August 4, SSCI voted unanimously to approve the final volume of the committee’s bipartisan Russia investigation.
