Denver — On Friday, Colorado U.S. Senator Michael Bennet joined City of Pueblo Mayor Nick Gradisar and leaders from CS Wind to tour the CS Wind America wind tower production facility in Pueblo, Colorado. This facility is the largest wind tower production facility in the world. CS Wind plans to expand the facility thanks in part to long-term clean energy tax credits in the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) that Bennet helped write and pass as a member of the Senate Finance Committee, including his Onshore Wind American Manufacturing Act, which provides incentives for the domestic production of onshore wind energy components, like towers. CS Wind’s Pueblo facility uses 100 percent U.S. steel to manufacture their towers.

“The Inflation Reduction Act is the most significant climate legislation that any country on the planet has ever passed, and Colorado is uniquely positioned to lead our country’s transition to a clean energy economy. The new long-term clean energy manufacturing tax credits that I fought to include in that bill are giving CS Wind the certainty they need to make huge investments here in Pueblo and create hundreds of good-paying jobs,” said Bennet. “I’m grateful to have had the opportunity to tour CS Wind’s impressive facility and to see how we’re investing in America again.”

“CS Wind is an important business in Pueblo, making an impact to the local economy with their commitment to growth and adding more than 850 new jobs through their new three-phase expansion. As Mayor of Pueblo, I’m proud CS Wind has chosen our city as a place for growth and a commitment to renewable energy that will bring 10,000 sections of wind towers to be distributed across North America,” said Gradisar.

Signed into law in August 2022, the IRA is helping the nation make historic steps to confront climate change and advance clean energy. Earlier this month, Bennet highlighted significant investments that the IRA has already brought to Colorado, including a $250 million investment from VSK Energy to build a solar panel manufacturing facility in Brighton, a $40 million investment from Vestas Wind Systems to upgrade its Windsor and Brighton factories, and a $400 million investment from Meyer Burger Technologies to build a solar cell manufacturing facility in Colorado Springs.
