Fort Morgan, CO - Michael Bennet, U.S. Senator for Colorado, today highlighted the unique role rural communities can play in the new energy economy. Speaking with farmers and ranchers at the Agriculture and Clean Energy Summit in Fort Morgan, Bennet discussed how rural communities can harness the power of clean energy to spur economic development.
"Agriculture has a major role to play in building a new energy economy," Bennet said. "Done right, a clean energy bill can be an unmatched opportunity for agriculture and rural America."
The daylong workshop, hosted by the Rocky Mountain Farmers Union and American Farmland Trust, was focused on the role Colorado's agriculture industry and rural communities can play in the New Energy Economy and addressing global climate change.
The event served as the kick-off for the Eastern Plains leg of Bennet's Fighting for Colorado Families Tour over the August recess.
