U.S. Senator Michael Bennet is encouraging families with fourth graders to take advantage of the opportunity to visit federal lands for free. The Every Kid in a Park Program, launched this month, allows America's fourth graders to visit the new Every Kid in a Park website to register for a pass to visit our nation's beautiful public lands and waters. The program can help get kids outside to hike, fish, and enjoy the scenery with their families. It's also a unique chance for kids to learn about the rich culture and history our state has to offer.

Colowyo Mine Assessment Officially Completed, Saving more than 200 Jobs

Bennet, Local Leaders, Community Pushed Interior to Complete Assessment

Colorado U.S. Senator Michael Bennet is pleased that the Department of Interior has completed a draft environmental assessment required by a court ruling to keep the Colowyo mine in operation, saving more than 200 jobs in Moffat County. By finishing the assessment before the court ordered deadline, OSM has ensured that the Colowyo mine will remain open, saving jobs and the economy in Northwest Colorado.
Colorado U.S. Senators Michael Bennet and Cory Gardner applauded the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) for approving new rules that will help rural counties like La Plata and Montezuma access local in-state broadcasts from cable and satellite providers. Currently, La Plata and Montezuma counties receive television broadcasts from New Mexico rather than Colorado, meaning they are unable to receive local news, sports, and emergency information.

USDA Announces $211 Million for Sage Grouse Initiative

Colorado U.S. Senator Michael Bennet today applauded the $211 million investment in the U.S. Department of Agriculture's (USDA) Sage Grouse Initiative 2.0 announced by Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack today. The strategy will build upon successful public and private conservation efforts made since 2010 to improve both Gunnison and Greater sage grouse habitat.
