Colorado U.S. Senator Michael Bennet today joined Senators Ron Wyden (D-OR) and Mike Crapo (R-ID) today to introduce a bipartisan bill to restore mandatory funding for the Payment in Lieu of Taxes (PILT) program. It would also renew the Secure Rural Schools program, which supports schools, law-enforcement and roads in more than 700 rural counties across the country. Colorado counties received $34.5 million in PILT funds in fiscal year 2014.

The Senate Finance Committee today approved a bipartisan bill introduced by U.S. Senators Michael Bennet (D-CO) and Richard Burr (R-NC) to put liquefied natural gas (LNG) on equal footing with diesel fuel under the federal highway excise tax. The bill would allow LNG to compete fairly with diesel by taxing LNG on energy output rather than per gallon.
