Washington, DC – Colorado U.S. Senator Michael Bennet issued the following statement on the tragic shooting at Emanuel AME Church in Charleston, South Carolina:

“Today is a sad day as our country confronts another tragedy. Last night’s shooting in Charleston, South Carolina was a heinous and vicious act. My family and I are deeply saddened, and our thoughts and sympathies are with the victims, their families and friends, the Emanuel AME Church, and with all of Charleston and South Carolina. They are also with Emanuel’s sister AME churches across the state. We wish the community strength as it works to come together to begin the healing process.”
