Washington, D.C. – Colorado U.S. Senator Michael Bennet today issued the following statement in response to Governor Hickenlooper’s announcement that Colorado will join the U.S. Climate Alliance. Earlier today, Hickenlooper signed an Executive Order committing the state to climate action, which includes reducing carbon dioxide and greenhouse gas emissions by 2025 to levels set by the Paris Agreement.
“Today, Colorado became the first state in the Rocky Mountain West to commit to meet the goals of the Paris Agreement,” Bennet said. “This is great news for our economy and environment. Our state is number one in the country for wind energy jobs, and this announcement will only strengthen our leadership in building a clean energy economy and combating climate change. As Coloradans do their part at home, I’ll continue to fight for policies in Washington that leave a safer, healthier planet for future generations.”
