Washington, D.C. – Colorado U.S. Senator Michael Bennet issued the following statement in response to the Central American migrants at the Tijuana-San Diego border:

“As a nation, we must uphold the rule of law and treat human beings with dignity. The situation at the southwest border makes evident the need for bipartisan action to address our broken immigration system, as we did in the Gang of Eight bill. We should work together to improve our asylum system to more quickly process applicants. Over the long term, we should work with countries in our hemisphere to help them stabilize their economies to promote opportunity for their citizens.”
