Washington, D.C. – Today, Colorado U.S. Senator Michael Bennet announced that U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development has approved a $2,369,000 grant and a $7,675,000 loan for the Town of Estes Park, Colorado to improve and expand the Glacier Creek Water Treatment Plant (GCWTP).
“Access to clean drinking water is a necessity for every community in Colorado. I’m thrilled to announce USDA has awarded Estes Park this much-needed funding to improve and expand the Glacier Creek Water Treatment Plant,” said Bennet. “Once the improvements made possible by this investment are completed, the GCWTP will provide clean drinking water year-round to thousands of water users in the Estes Valley.”

After improvements to the GCWTP made possible by this funding are completed, it will be the sole source of water treatment year round in the Estes Valley. The USDA Rural Development funding will also enable the plant to complete improvements necessary to regain compliance with Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment’s (CDPHE) drinking water disinfection requirements.
