Denver — Today, Colorado U.S. Senator Michael Bennet released the following statement after the Supreme Court of the United States struck down affirmative action programs. The Supreme Court ruled that race cannot be considered in college admissions. 

“Today’s Supreme Court decision undermines our nation’s promise of equal opportunity for all, especially for those citizens who have been historically denied it. We must recommit to our struggle against our country’s legacy of racism and inequality to ensure that every American, regardless of their background, enjoys the opportunity they deserve. To take just one glaring example, we are a long way from ensuring what today’s majority asserts Brown v. Board of Education made unmistakably clear that ‘the right to a public education “must be made available to all on equal terms.”’”
