Washington, D.C. — Colorado U.S. Senator Michael Bennet released the following statement following the Senate’s vote on a three-year extension of the Affordable Care Act premium tax credits:

“Today, Republicans blocked a chance to prevent a looming health care crisis and extend the Affordable Care Act tax credits before they expire in just three weeks. As a result, 24 million Americans, and hundreds of thousands of Coloradans, could see their premiums double, triple, or even quadruple in 2026. For many, that’s the difference between getting care and going without it. Health care is a right, and it should be universal. But with Trump in the White House and Republicans running the Senate, meaningful action to lower health care costs is nearly impossible. Their proposals do nothing to lower costs and only serve Trump’s agenda of chaos.

“The road ahead will be hard, but we cannot give up. I will never stop fighting to make health care truly affordable, reliably accessible, and a right that every Coloradan can count on.”
