Denver — Colorado U.S. Senator Michael Bennet issued the following statement on the U.S. Supreme Court’s ruling in Chiles v. Salazar regarding Colorado’s ban on conversion therapy:

“As Colorado works hard to protect our LGBTQ+ community, the Supreme Court’s decision on conversion therapy is extremely disappointing. The facts are simple: Conversion therapy is harmful and no Coloradan should be forced to change who they are.

“This decision only strengthens our resolve to protect the rights, freedoms, and futures of the LGBTQ+ community and youth. At a time when so many are facing increasing discrimination, we must protect — not abandon — all Coloradans.”
