Washington, D.C. – Today, Colorado U.S. Senator Michael Bennet, a member of the U.S. Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, issued the statement below following the Senate vote to confirm Avril Haines as Director of National Intelligence:

“The confirmation of Avril Haines as Director of National Intelligence comes at an extraordinary time for the intelligence community and our country. Haines brings intellect and vision to the tremendous task of ensuring the men and women of the intelligence community can overcome the evolving threats against our nation. The Senate voted to confirm Avril Haines as the next Director of National Intelligence with an 84-10 vote.
