Washington, D.C. – Today, Colorado U.S. Senator Michael Bennet released the following statement after the U.S. Senate passed legislation 86-11 to provide $40 billion in aid for Ukraine:

“The strength and resilience of the Ukrainian people has been an inspiration to us all, and we must continue to support them in their pursuit of sovereignty against Putin’s barbarity. I’m glad the Senate came together to deliver critical assistance to Ukraine with overwhelming, bipartisan support. As the people of Ukraine fight for their lives and country, the U.S. and our allies must continue to punish and isolate Putin and his enablers for this reprehensible war against the Ukrainian people.”

Bennet is working to pass his bipartisan RELIEF for Ukraine Act, which would direct funds from seized Russian assets to Ukraine. Bennet introduced this legislation with U.S. Senator Rob Portman (R-Ohio) in March. Both President Joe Biden and Attorney General Merrick Garland have expressed their support for this effort.
