Bennet: One Senator's Pet Projects Should Not Come At the Expense of the American People

Denver, CO - Michael Bennet, U.S. Senator for Colorado, released the following statement on the heels of reports that one Republican Senator has placed a blanket hold on over 50 nominees to posts in the Obama Administration, many of which have been vacant for over a year.

"One Senator's pet projects should not come at the expense of the American people. Holds are the most antidemocratic form of the filibuster, because just one Senator can block the work of important federal agencies that keep us safe and manage taxpayer money. I have heard from people all across Colorado that they want Washington to get to work addressing real problems, and that's what we need to do," Bennet said.

Bennet is also calling on the Senator to lift his blanket hold so the Senate can fulfill its constitutional duty of providing advice and consent on the President's nominees.
