Bennet Celebrates 50th Anniversary of Fryingpan-Arkansas Project

Colorado U.S. Senator Michael Bennet released the following statement on the 50th anniversary of the Fryingpan-Arkansas Project.  Bennet is attending the 50th anniversary commemoration dinner Friday evening and the celebration at Lake Pueblo State Park Saturday.

“The Fryingpan-Arkansas Project is a great example of people coming together to find a middle ground to solve a tough issue for the greater good. That legacy has carried forward for the last half-century, and we can all celebrate the magnitude of this accomplishment. As we all know, water is a precious resource, and the Fry-Ark Project has helped ensure that this region of our state can and will continue to thrive.”

The Fryingpan-Arkansas project is a water diversion and storage project constructed to deliver water to families, producers and municipalities throughout the lower Arkansas Valley, as well as provide supplemental irrigation water. During his time in Congress, Bennet has successfully worked to secure funding for the Arkansas Valley conduit, one component of the Fryingpan-Arkansas project.
