Bennet Statement on Fort Carson's Decision to Open Gate 19

Colorado U.S. Senator Michael Bennet today welcomed a decision by senior Army officials at Fort Carson to open Gate 19, providing a southern access point to the base. The decision provides soldiers more options and flexibility when choosing a community to live near the base.

“This decision will benefit Fort Carson, the soldiers stationed at the base and the surrounding community,” Bennet said. “Opening gate 19 will allow soldiers more options when they choose where to live. Communities south of the base like Pueblo West will advantage from new residents that will support Pueblo County businesses and help create new jobs.”

Staff representing Bennet today attended a ceremony to celebrate the signing of the Community Covenant with Fort Carson and the City of Pueblo.
