Bennet Statement on Trump Administration Rescinding DAPA

COLORADO - Colorado U.S. Senator Michael Bennet today issued the following statement on the Department of Homeland Security rescinding the Deferred Action for Parents of Americans and Lawful Permanent Residents (DAPA) program:

"The administration's rescission of DAPA - a policy that never even went into effect - is unnecessary and confusing for immigrant communities across the country," Bennet said. "While DACA is still in place, we must continue pushing this administration to protect the program. We also need to keep fighting for policies that keep families together and fix our broken immigration system once and for all."

Bennet filed a Congressional amicus brief to the Supreme Court in support of DAPA and DACA+ in 2016. Bennet also was a member of the Gang of Eight, a group of bipartisan senators that drafted and secured passage of comprehensive immigration reform in the U.S. Senate in 2013.
