Bennet Statement on White House Immigration Meeting

Washington, D.C. - Colorado U.S. Senator Michael Bennet today issued the following statement after returning from a meeting at the White House on protecting Dreamers and passing comprehensive immigration reform:

"To the extent the meeting helped narrow the scope of our negotiations and prioritize the Dream Act, this was a positive first step. I'm pleased that there seemed to be an acknowledgement of the urgent need to pass this bipartisan bill immediately, so DACA recipients stop losing status and having their lives upended. It was also encouraging that the President expressed his interest in passing comprehensive immigration reform after we pass the Dream Act."

Since November 2017, Bennet has worked with U.S. Senators Jeff Flake (R-AZ) and Dick Durbin (D-IL) in convening a bipartisan group of senators to find a solution to protect Dreamers. Bennet also was a member of the Gang of Eight, a group of bipartisan senators that drafted and secured passage of comprehensive immigration reform in the U.S. Senate in 2013.
