Bennet Statement on Signing of Crowdfunding into Law

Crowdfunding Part of JOBS Act Signed into Law Today

Colorado U.S. Senator Michael Bennet released the following statement today after President Obama signed into law the Jumpstarting Our Business Startups (JOBS) Act, which includes Bennet’s crowdfunding measure to allow small businesses and start-ups to raise capital online and through social media.

“Colorado is rich with entrepreneurial and innovative spirit, and our entrepreneurs need access to capital to help our economy get back on track and create jobs. The signing of this bill into law is good news for Colorado’s small businesses and start-ups, which are ready to grow with increased access to capital.

“Crowdfunding is an important way to harness vast investment capital available on the internet and encourage investments in small businesses and start-ups in Colorado and across the country. The crowdfunding measure will help bring our securities regulations into the 21st century while still maintaining the level of protection that investors expect and deserve. This law will drive innovation, promote job growth and support small businesses in a way we have not seen before.”
