Bennet Cosponsors Amendment Supporting Cheyenne Mountain

Washington, D.C. - Colorado U.S. Senator Michael Bennet cosponsored an amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2017 (NDAA) that recognizes the importance of Cheyenne Mountain Air Force Station (CMAFS) as essential to our national security and the defense of North America. Senator Cory Gardner sponsored the amendment.

"The Cheyenne Mountain complex is essential to the missions of NORAD and U.S. Northern Command and to our national security," Bennet said. "We will continue to highlight the critical assets, like Cheyenne Mountain, that Colorado provides our homeland defense mission, and the important work of the men and women serving here."

CMAFS, located in Colorado Springs operates as the alternate command control center for NORAD and United States Northern Command (NORTHCOM).

Cheyenne Mountain celebrated its 50th anniversary in April. Bennet introduced a bipartisan resolution with Gardner recognizing the milestone.
