Colorado U.S. Senator Michael Bennet issued the following statement on today’s passage of a continuing resolution with language authorizing the President’s request to train and equip moderate Syrian rebels currently fighting against ISIL:
“ISIL poses a threat to the security and stability of our allies and partners in the Middle East. It needs to be contained to protect our interests in that region and to counter any broader terrorist threat to the United States. After more than a decade of war, many Coloradans are rightfully skeptical of being dragged into another protracted conflict. I share that concern, and I voted for this short-term authority to give the United States time to build the international coalition that will be required for any long-term strategy."
