Washington, D.C. – Today, Colorado U.S. Senators Michael Bennet (D) and John Hickenlooper (D) released the following statements after the U.S. Senate confirmed former Secretary of the Interior and Colorado U.S. Senator, Ken Salazar, to serve as the U.S. Ambassador to Mexico by unanimous consent.
“I’m thrilled the Senate confirmed Ken Salazar as the next U.S. Ambassador to Mexico,” said Bennet. “The American Southwest embodies our braided history with Mexico, and I can’t think of anyone with a deeper connection to the region than Ken. He has the experience and integrity to serve in this position and a life story that embodies America at its best. On behalf of Colorado, we thank him for his continued service to our state and our country.”
“Ambassador Salazar is the right person at the right moment to represent the United States in Mexico,” said Hickenlooper. “His life and career are the story of America and I can’t wait for him to get to work.”
Bennet and Hickenlooper introduced Salazar at his confirmation hearing before the U.S. Senate Committee on Foreign Relations last month. The Biden Administration nominated Salazar in June.
