Bennet to Chair Finance Subcommittee on Taxation and IRS Oversight

Colorado U.S. Senator Michael Bennet today was named chairman of the Senate Finance Subcommittee on Taxation and IRS Oversight. The Finance Committee formally approved the panel’s six subcommittees and rules in an executive session during a hearing on the nation’s budget and economic outlook.

Through the subcommittee, Bennet hopes to further the discussion on comprehensive tax reform.

“If we’re going to put the country back on a path toward fiscal health, we need to take a comprehensive approach to the tax code so that it prioritizes innovation and job growth,” Bennet said. “We can’t afford to maintain the current climate, which is comprised of a political battle between the incumbent interests of the past and the interests of our future. I look forward to having these important discussions with my colleagues on the committee.”

Bennet will also serve on the International Trade, Customs, and Global Competitiveness Subcommittee and the Energy, Natural Resources, and Infrastructure Subcommittee.
