Today, Colorado U.S. Senators Michael Bennet (D) and Cory Gardner (R), along with Colorado U.S. Representatives Diana DeGette (D), Joe Neguse (D), Jason Crow (D), and Ed Perlmutter (D), demanded Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Alex Azar and Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Administrator Seema Verma provide an explanation for HHS’s decision to allocate the first $30 billion of funding relief from the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act in a manner that excludes many rural hospitals and other providers on the brink of financial ruin.
