Mar 03, 2016
Colorado U.S. Senator Michael Bennet sent a letter to U.S. Department of Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack urging him to implement equitable Conservation Reserve Enhancement Program (CREP) irrigation rental rates for farmers and ranchers in the Republican River system. Currently, the federal government pays producers on the Republican River in Colorado $115 per acre to take land out of agriculture production to promote water conservation.
