Washington, D.C. – Today Colorado U.S. Senator Michael Bennet issued the following statement after attending President Donald J. Trump’s inauguration:

“Today’s inauguration symbolized the American tradition of a peaceful transition of power,” Bennet said. “The President’s tone and rhetoric up to this point have been extremely concerning. On this first day of the new administration, disagreements aside, we must start the process of unifying our country and healing some of the wounds.

“Our task now is to repair our politics and our national discourse. In Colorado, we know that disagreement does not require disrespect. I hope we can use our state’s common sense approach to be practical, set aside differences and move our great country forward.”
