Washington, D.C. – Colorado U.S. Senator Michael Bennet today issued the following statement in response to the U.S. Supreme Court’s decisions in Gill v. Whitford and Benisek v. Lamone:

“Today’s Supreme Court decisions yet again fail to resolve one of the most significant dangers to American democracy. Partisan gerrymandering undermines our republic, promotes extremism in our politics, and causes inertia in our government. This harms every American—and every American should have the right to stand against it.”

This week, Bennet plans to introduce legislation that prohibits partisan gerrymandering and provides every eligible voter standing to challenge their state’s redistricting plan if the map is partisan gerrymandered.
