Bennet Joins Leader Schumer, Colleagues on Congressional Delegation to Ukraine to Affirm U.S. Support for the Ukrainian People

The senators met with President Zelenskyy ahead of the second anniversary of the Russian invasion

Washington, D.C. — Colorado U.S. Senator Michael Bennet released the following statement on his congressional delegation to Ukraine with U.S. Senators Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.), Jack Reed (D-R.I.), Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.), and Maggie Hassan (D-N.H.). Earlier today, the senators met with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy following Senate passage of the National Security Supplemental, which would provide Ukraine with much-needed weapons and ammunition:

“Ukraine is in a fight not just for Ukraine – but for democracy, for freedom, and for the entire world.

“Since Putin started this lawless war two years ago, the Ukrainian people have sacrificed their lives and won battle after battle against all odds. It's time for America to lead the rest of the world in support of their bravery and resilience amid Putin’s aggression.

“Under Senator Schumer's leadership, we passed the aid package through the Senate with broad bipartisan support. We demonstrated to the American people and the world how important this fight is for democracy. Now, the House must finish the job.

“I’m thankful to the people of Ukraine for the inspiration that they've given to all of us and I know we'll be with them until the very end.”
