Counties May Now Petition to Agency for Local Channels - Rule Follows Pressure from Colorado Delegation

Colorado U.S. Senator Michael Bennet issued the following statement on the Federal Communications Commission's (FCC) announcement of a final rule that will allow rural La Plata and Montezuma Counties to petition for access to local in-state broadcasts from cable and satellite providers. Currently, La Plata and Montezuma counties receive television broadcasts from New Mexico rather than Colorado, and thus do not receive local news, sports, and emergency information.
Colorado U.S. Senator Michael Bennet today announced that three projects in Colorado have been selected by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) to receive a total of $5.4 million through the agency's Regional Conservation Partnership Program (RCPP).
